Christmas Sparkles

In the most beautiful time of the year Christmas comes, as I said I have attended many several Christmas festival this year, here I will post some features of this.

Berjaya Times Square brought the tallest Christmas tree, the huge Christmas tree ornamented gorgeously. Which was quite spectacular and an attraction to the both locals and tourists.

Every year Christmas bring much awesomeness and magnificence. And this year, it welcomes us to its biggest and brightest celebration – Christmas Sparkles. The main highlight this year is definitely the Swarovski’s 23 meter tall Christmas tree that was inspired by the brand’s Christmas Collection with Miranda Kerr. Made of crystal strands, the tree sparkles and shines with more than 3,100 crystal strands, which amounts to a staggering total of 174,853 pieces of individual crystals. Valued at approximately RM3 million, it is the very first Swarovski Christmas tree in Malaysia and also the tallest Swarovski Christmas tree in Asia, as awarded for Malaysia Book of Records.

But the eye-catching spot that attracts many cameras is of course the main entrance of the mall, with robotic Santa Claus  and plenty of "snowing" Christmas tree surrounding it. Several robotic Santa Claus , bunny brings unique charm this year.

Moon Romance

The Mid Autumn Festival is an occasion for family reunion. When the full moonrises, families get together to watch the full moon, eat moon cakes, and sing moon poems, with all these things together, the legend, the family, the full moon and the poems, one can’t help thinking this is really a perfect world. That may be the reason why Chinese are so much enjoyed in the Moon Festival and take it as a special day being so different from the festivals. They just can’t wait for the coming of the Moon Festival in each year.
Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival 中秋 as it’s known in China, is the 15th day of the 8th month in the lunar calendar. It is considered a harvest festival, and some people even compare it to Thanksgiving.
Mid-Autumn festival is also the appropriate time to eat mooncakes, a Chinese dessert. This New York Times articles estimates that mooncakes are a 2 billion dollar a year industry.
Mooncake is definitely an acquired taste. It is sweet and salty, gluttonous pastry filled with a dense filling such as lotus seed paste or a red bean paste. It often has a salted egg yolk in the middle to symbolize the full moon.
Nowadays, snowskin mooncakes are most popular for those who want to enjoy more than the traditional taste.
The Moon Festival is also a romantic one. Lovers get together, watch the full moon, drink towards the moon, and taste the delicate mooncake , at such a quit night without a silk of could an with some mild breeze from the sea. Even for lovers who are located in different places, the moon becomes a symbol linking them together. They watch the moon at the same time and seem to have each other at that hour. A great number of poetry has been devoted to the romantic festival, representing how Chinese people hope the Moon Festival brings them romance  and happiness.

Hungry Ghost Festival

The Ghost Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival in modern day, Zhong Yuan Jie or Yu Lan Jie (盂蘭節) is a traditional Buddhist and Taoist festival held in Asian countries. In the Chinese calender the Ghost Festival is on the 15th night of the seventh month (14th in southern China).
In chinese culture, the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar is called Ghost Day and the seventh month in general is regarded as the Ghost Month (鬼月), in which ghosts and spirit, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm. On the fifteenth day the realms of Heaven and Hell and the realm of the living are open and both Taoists and Buddhists would perform rituals to transmute and absolve the sufferings of the deceased. Intrinsic to the Ghost Month is veneration of the dead, where traditionally the filial piety of descendants extends to their ancestors even after their deaths. Activities during the month would include preparing ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper a papier mache form of material items such as clothes, gold and other fine goods for the visiting spirits of the ancestors. Elaborate meals (often vegetarian meals) would be served with empty seats for each of the deceased in the family treating the deceased as if they are still living. Ancestor worship is what distinguishes Qingming Festival from Ghost Festival because the latter includes paying respects to all deceased, including the same and younger generations, while the former only includes older generations. Other festivities may include, buying and releasing miniature paper boats and lantern on water, which signifies giving directions to the lost ghosts and spirits of the ancestors and other deities.
